Eligibility Criteria for B.A. / B.Sc. Honours Admission, 2011

For both General and Reserved categories, the candidates must have to pass the H.S./Equivalent Examination as declared by the respective Board.

Aggregate: Sum of Best 4 Marks (Excluding ENVS if it is compulsory and Including if it is an Elective subject in H.S/Equivalent Examination).

For Honours Degree (General Category):

50% Marks in Aggregate (SUM of Best 4 Marks) with 45% Marks in the Subject applied for Honours, in the HS/Equivalent Examination

OR

55% Marks in the Subject applied for and Pass Marks in Aggregate (SUM of Best 4 Marks), in the HS/Equivalent Examination

OR

50% Marks in Aggregate (SUM of Best 4 Marks) in case of Candidates have not studied the subject in her previous qualifying examination. [Applicable for Students applying for Honours in Philosophy, Pol. Sc., History & Economics].

For Honours Degree (SC/ST Category):

40% Marks in Aggregate (SUM of Best 4 Marks) and Pass Marks in the Subject, in the HS/Equivalent Examination

OR

40% Marks in the Subject applied for and Pass Marks in Aggregate (SUM of Best 4 Marks), in the HS/Equivalent Examination

OR

40% Marks in Aggregate (SUM of Best 4 Marks) in case of Candidates have not studied the subject in her previous qualifying examination. [Applicable for Students applying for Honours in Philosophy, Pol. Sc., History & Economics].

For General Degree Courses:

Pass in H.S/Equivalent Examination

SC/ST candidates from West Bengal only are eligible for seats under this criterion.

Vidyasagar College for Women is a women's college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It was founded in 1960. However, its history went back to 1931 when a separate women's’ section of the Vidyasagar College was started to cater to the educational requirements of the women folk of Kolkata. Since its foundation in 1960, Vidyasagar College for Women committed itself to carry forward the ideals and principles of Pundit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, the great educationist and social reformer of the 19th century.
