Minimum criteria for General /OBC category students for filling up admission form

Bengali 50% in aggregate AND 45% in the concerned subject

OR

55% in the concerned subject AND 30% in HS (40% for other Boards)

English 50% in aggregate AND 45% in the concerned subject;

OR

55% in the concerned subject AND 30% in HS (40% for other Boards)

Political Science If Pol. Sc. was a combination subject in the previous exam: 50% in aggregate AND 45% in the concerned subject;

If Pol. Sc. was NOT a combination subject in the previous exam: 50% in aggregate

Geography If Geography was a combination subject in HS / eqvt:

70% in Best of four AND 65% in both Physics and Mathematics AND 60% in English

Mathematics 50% in aggregate AND 50% in the concerned subject AND pass marks in Physics and Chemistry

Physiology 50% in aggregate and pass marks in Biology and Chemistry

Vidyasagar Evening College, a co-educational institution affiliated to the University of Calcutta, shares a long and illustrious history with two of its sister institution Vidyasagar College and Vidyasagar College for Women. It had its affiliation upto B.Com standard in 1928 and attracted students from different parts of India. It was due to the untiring effort of Prof. J.C. Mitra, the then Vice-Principal of the College the Commerce Department made such repaid growth in terms of faculty and student strength that a separate wing devoted to commerce teaching in evening hours was established in 1951. The evening section emerged as an independent entity with a separate governing body in 1961 having the name Vidyasagar Evening College and since then the College is being run with the sole mission of disseminating knowledge to a cross section of students, more especially to those who are constrained to work during the day to support themselves and their family.
