ADMISSION NOTICE 2011-12

The National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam is a premier Law University established by the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 and is the youngest member of the existing group of National Law Universities of India. The Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of the National Law School.
The University invites applications for five years’ integrated B.A. LL.B (Hons.) Programme for the academic year 2011-12, commencing from 1st August, 2011.
Eligibility: Senior Secondary School Examination (10 + 2 system) or equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate (those who have appeared for the examination in March/April, 2011, may also apply).
Age Limit: Below 20 years as on 1st August, 2011 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates).
Total Seats: 60.
Category-wise Seats: General: 47, Scheduled Castes: 4, Scheduled Tribes (Plain): 6, Scheduled Tribes (Hills): 3. 25% of the total seats will be reserved for students from Assam.
Admissions will be strictly on merit through an all India entrance examination to be conducted at Bengaluru, Bhopal, Cuttack, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jorhat, Kolkata, New Delhi, Pune, Silchar and Tezpur on 19thJune, 2011 (Sunday), from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. If sufficient number of applications are not received for a centre, the University reserves the right to cancel the said centre and shift the applicants of that centre to another centre.
The Application Form will be available for downloading from the University website, http://www.nluassam.ac.in w.e.f. 12-May-2011.
Filled-in Application Forms are to be sent along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) for General Candidates and Rs. 750/-(Rupees Seven Hundred Fifty Only) in case of SC and ST Candidates, drawn in favour of “The Registrar, National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam” payable at Guwahati along with copies of requisite Caste Certificate.
Completed Application Forms must reach the Registrar, National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam, by post/courier, on or before 6thJune, 2011. Applications received after the last date shall not be entertained. The University will not be responsible for any loss or delay in receiving applications.

The National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam (NLSJAA) promises to be an exciting new development in the field of legal education in North Eastern India. The institution is in the process of setting up its premises at Amingaon near Guwahati - a city dating back to over a thousand years, and also boasting a rich legal heritage – not only is the Gauhati High Court situated here, but also some of the finest lawyers and judges of the country trace their roots back to this city. Nevertheless, the functions of the institute have already started from its temporary office at Ujan Bazar, Guwahati, and all the necessary arrangements are being made for commencement of its first academic session from August 2011.
