The Delhi-government colleges are 100 percent funded by the state government of Delhi and were founded in the late 80s and early 90s. The number of colleges affiliated under the university goes up to 77 if you include the colleges that run professional courses.

Every year the academic session of Delhi University starts on 21 July while processes of admission for the courses are held in June-July. Admissions to the regular courses are done through entrance examination.

Each college carries out admission to all the undergraduate courses except the professional courses individually and schedule for the common entrance is announced by the university every year in the month of May. From this year onwards, University is doing preregistration for admission.
