Jawaharlal Nehru University, also known as JNU, is located in New Delhi, the capital of India. It is mainly a research oriented postgraduate University with approximately 5,500 students and a faculty strength of around 550.

In 1985 the Government of Ontario created the Aird Scholarship in honour of the Honourable John Black Aird on his retirement as Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario. The scholarship is intended to help students with physical disabilities to study full time at a recognized Ontario post secondary institution. It is hoped that the award will encourage a special talent or lifelong interest. The scholarship is granted each year to two applicants who demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement, motivation, and initiative. Each successful applicant receives $2,500.

Indian Navy SSC Officer as Pilot/Observer Course 2012



THE INDIAN NAVY

TO JOIN THE INDIAN NAVY AS SHORT SERVICE COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AS PILOT/OBSERVER COURSE COMMENCING JAN 2012

1. Applications are invited from unmarried Indian citizens for Short Service Commission (SSC) as PILOT/OBSERVER in the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2012 at the Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala, Kerala.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
2. Age. 19 to 23 years born between 02 Jan 1989 and 01 Jan 1993; both dates inclusive.

Note. Applicants who have FAILED in PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) earlier are not eligible for Pilot Entry, but can apply for the Observer Entry scheme.

3. Educational Qualifications A graduate degree in any discipline with minimum 60% marks. Should have qualified Mathematics & Physics at 10+2 level.

4. The gender requirement is as follows:-

01 Pilot Men
02 Observer Men & Women

Note:- Candidates who have not completed their Degree (i.e. appearing candidates) need not apply.

5. Physical Standards
(a) Height and Weight. Minimum height for men162.5 cms and for women 152 cm with correlated weight, leg length, sitting height and thigh length.

(b) Eye Sight. The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6. Should not be colour/night blind.

Note:- There will be no relexation in Physical Standards.

INDUCTION AND TRAINING

6. Candidates will be inducted under Short Service Commission Scheme. Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirement and performance/willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules. The Officers will be on probation for a period of two years, during which they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory.

7. Pilot Entry. Pilot candidates will be inducted as Cadets and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. This will be followed by Stage I and Stage -II flying training at the Air Force Academy/Naval establishments. On successful completion of Stage II training the Cadets will be awarded wings and commissioned as Sub-Lieutenants.

8. Observer Entry. Observer candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/Units/Ships. Full pay and allowances are admissible to officers whilst under training.

9. Training - The training is scheduled to commence in the month of Jan 2012. Only unmarried candidates are eligible to undergo training. Any candidate who is found to be married or marries while under training will be discharged and shall be liable to REFUND full pay & allowances drawn by him/her and expenditure incurred on him/her by the Government.

IMPORTANT - Officers inducted under these schemes will not be given extension beyond fourteen years and will not be eligible for permanent commission.

HOW TO APPLY:

10. Candidates have the option of submitting application in 'physical format' or e-application' (Online) for this entry. Candidates can only apply in one of the aforementioned formats. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of his candidature. The candidates desirous of applying online (e-application) can do so from 05 Apr 11 The online application registration will cease on 20 Apr 11.

IMPORTANT. Candidates those who are eligible and willing to APPLY for both the Entries are required to give their PRIORITY as mentioned in Para 13 of the Application Form.

11. Physical Application (by Post):-Application Forms in accordance with the prescribed format (given on website www.nausena-bharti.nic.in) and complete in all respects with superscription on the envelope “APPLICATION FOR SSC PILOT/OBSERVER # - JAN 2012 COURSE Qualification........ Percentage........% are to be sent to the address given below by 29 Apr 2011.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

14. (a) Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their performance in educational qualification. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to short-list applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account.

(b) SSB interviews for short-listed candidates will be scheduled from Jul to Nov 2011 at Bangalore.

(c) The total duration of SSB interviews is five days, consisting of stage I (Day one) and stage II (Four days). Stage I Tests, consist of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Group Discussion Tests.Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be sent back on the same day from SSB Centre. Stage II Tests consists of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests and Interview. Successful candidates will undergo the following:-

(i) For Pilot Cadre - PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Tests) followed by Aviation Medical examination.
(ii) For Observer Cadre - Aviation Medical examination

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBs, cleared PABT (for Pilot Entry) and declared medically fit will be appointed for training based on merit list and depending on the number of vacancies available.

(e) Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible.

(f) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the President of the SSB on receipt of call up letter and copy endorsed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (OI&R), Room No 204, ‘C’ Wing. Sena Bhavan, IHQ-MoD (N), New Delhi-110011 (Fax No 011-23011282).

(g) No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests.

(h) Return 3rd AC rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for this entry.

15. Male candidates who do not clear PABT/Aviation medicals and have opted for Short Service Executive (Genral Service) will only be considered for the same, if qualified medically & educationally {BE/BTech/BSc(Phy & Maths)}. This is subject to availability of vacancies and on their position in the merit list.

The Indian Navy is one of the naval branch of the Indian armed forces, which is woks in the marine area of the India. Indian Navy come in exists in the 1947 after the independence of the Indian country. Currently Indian Navy has around 56,000 sailors or soldiers on active duty in which 5,000 soldiers are works for the naval aviation branch which controls the flight department, 1,200 soldiers are marine commandos, 1,000 Sagar Prahari Bal soldiers. This all figures make the Indian Navy world's fifth largest navy in terms of man power or in terms of personnel. The main and primary object of the Indian Navy is to secure national maritime borders and tack care the safety of various things which comes under the marine area. Indian government is also use the Navy for the purpose of enhancing the international relations with the help of joint exercises, port visits and humanitarian missions, with the disaster relief activities. One more function or role which is carried out by the Indian Navy is, with the in cooperation with the Indian Coast Guard; ensure good order and stability in India's maritime zones of responsibility..
